After watching the new Walking Dead trailer, we are looking for a getaway that’s safe for riding out a zombie apocalypse. We put together a list of secluded Tentrr sites to not only survive the undead invasion, but have a good time doing it. Although most of these campsites are 2 to 3 hours from NYC, they are certified zombie proof. We’ve paired each campsite with a Walking Dead character best suited for that location. Check it out!

2. Maggie Greene at Streamside Paradise

Maggie

Maggie is the country girl who knows how to hunt and fish with the best of them, which is why we put her at Streamside Paradise. Her diverse skill set can best be utilized while she’s kicking back instead of kicking-butt. This campsite is perfect for trout fishing, horseback riding, and rock climbing.

3. Carol Peletier at The Mongaup River Camp

Carol

Carol has the tendency to ditch and run off on her own. No place is more perfect than this secluded little safe haven in the middle of the woods. Carol is resourceful and the freshwater and hunting features of The Mongaup River Camp will help her thrive. For those of us just trying to relax before the zombie invasion, there is a beautiful waterfall right next to the camp.

4. Rick Grimes at The Old Game Farm

Rick Grimes

Rick has a knack for making empty structures home. So no other campsite would be more perfect for the efficient Rick Grimes. This former zoo would make the perfect home for a walker apocalypse, with plenty of sturdy fencing to hold back a potential zombie mob. Pre-apocalypse, you can also enjoy ziplining, the farmer’s market and mountain biking at The Old Game Farm.

5. Hershel Greene at Greenane Farms

Hershel

We couldn’t resist! Hershel became a member of Rick’s group by letting Rick and his crew stay on his farm, so it is only fitting to put Hershel on Greenane Farms! Looking over the historic village of Meridale, the farm is the ideal place to kick back and watch the animals graze. You can also pick berries, go fishing, and enjoy a farm-to-table meal at this campsite. Besides the obvious, can’t you just picture Hershel perched on the deck of that campsite?
