12 fully-equipped Campsites near Nashville

Travel about one hour east of Nashville and you'll discover a private camping oasis called Defender's Retreat. 12 fully-equipped campsites are spread over 250+ rolling acres. Hike the property or enjoy a variety of excursions within a 15-minute drive. Center Hill Lake, where campers can rent pontoon boats at Hurricane Marina, is just minutes away. The property is also a short 12-minute drive to Edgar Evins State Park with 3 boat launches and 11 miles of hiking trails. Nearby outfitter Canoe the Caney offers seasonal kayak and canoe rentals. Defenders Retreat also hosts Halloween Hallow, Tennessee's premier Halloween event during the month of October.

Halloween Hollow has 3 different themed scare houses and a giant “not so scary” corn maze and pumpkin patch for those looking for less fright in their night. Venture through the maze with loved ones for a truly fun fall experience. Various live entertainment acts are also offered during this seasonal event and the 21+ crowd can enjoy Boos at the Beer Garden.

At Defenders Retreat, travelers will arrive at ready-to-camp sites with platform safari tents. Book one tent or bring your friends and book them all for a memorable get-away.

At each site, campers will find a spacious 10' x 12' canvas safari tent with a bed and memory foam mattress. Each Tentrr site sleeps up to 6 campers - two on the Queen bed in the spacious 10' x 12' platform safari tent and up to 4 additional campers in the included pop-up tent. (Parents with toddlers or very young children can also fit a twin-size air mattress in the main tent next to the Queen bed.)  The sites also come with a picnic table, fire pit, and Adirondack chairs where you can kick back and take in the stars at night. The campsites are also pet-friendly with a small pet fee so bring your pup along. Sites are spaced apart for privacy, but groups can gather at the on-site covered pavilion which also offers modern bathrooms and showers. Each Tentrr campsite also offers a Tentrr loo (camping potty) for convenience during nighttime hours.

The "Iceman" campsite offers some additional perks as a Coleman Outfitted site. Campers who book this site will find a Coleman RoadTrip Grill, a steel-belted cooler, lanterns, flashlights and even a wireless speaker that can charge their phones.
