Please Enjoy A Tour Of A House On Zillow Led By What Appears To Be A Sentient Suit Of Armor
There are a lot of bonkers house listings on Zillow across the US, but this one is bonkers in a different way. Where most of the real estate listings that go viral stand out for their atrocious design choices or for details that suggest if you were to move in you'd be murdered by ghosts within hours, this listing of a castle-themed house in Western Washington, which includes photos that feature what seems like a sentient suit of armor hanging out around the house, is… wholesome?
The house currently belongs to Tim and Shelly Bemis, who are selling it with the help of real estate agency Elber and Associates. The "knight" in many of the listing's photos is actually an armorist who was hired by agent Jonas Elber. "We figured the future buyers of this home would be lighthearted," said Elber in a press release for the listing. "And I'm not convinced the buyer is local. We needed to have a big reach. So, we came up with the idea to create a video with a knight showcasing the house." Apparently, the good-humored armorist they hired ended up filming on a 100-degree day in over 100lbs of armor. That's dedication — or at least, hopefully, a well-paying gig.
The concept is definitely paying off for Elber and the homeowners: the house has captured the internet's attention and delight.
A suit of armor posed in photos could have had some truly ominous vibes, but this knight just wants to show you what he gets up to around the house. "I've had a lot of fun in this place," he says in the video tour of the listing (which you can find below the following photos). So let's immerse ourselves in this medieval experience and let this animated suit of armor straight out of "Beauty and the Beast" show us around.
First off, that the video calls this a "Castle Tour" is largely accurate: the exterior of the house is giving major castle vibes, with a hint of "Labyrinth" to boot.
Inside, though, the house is actually pretty ordinary — except for the "knight" giving us the tour. We find him in the kitchen, whipping up a meal of… oranges? Hey, knights need their vitamins too.
There's another shot in the kitchen with a series of items I initially thought were product placement of some kind, but then I looked closer at their labels. That was around the time I began to appreciate just how much thought had gone into this, and why this fully deserves the virality that, as Anne Helen Petersen noted, it does seem to be hoping for.
As we move through the house, we glimpse the knight in various other rooms and hallways, which honestly feels like a smart move: the parts of the house we see aren't particularly remarkable, so why not make them a little more exciting?
Plus, more Labyrinth vibes:
In addition to the shower photo Petersen posted with her tweet, there's another truly beautiful bathroom shot of this happy-go-lucky knight, boosting his confidence with a pep talk in the mirror like a Sim:
And one of him keeping those joints nice and loose:
Of course, we also tour the bedrooms, one of which seems to belong to our noble tour guide himself. Personally, I like the implication that he sleeps fully clad in his armor. (In turn, I hope you like the implication that I have fully bought into the notion that this house does in fact belong to a sentient suit of armor who is giving us this tour.)
You can see the full set of photos on Zillow's listing for the property. And to see this guy in action, toting his 100 pounds of armor around the house, here's the full video tour:
