turn that flute up
The Firing And Rehiring Of Sam Altman At OpenAI, And This Week's Other Best Memes, Ranked
Here at Digg, we try our best to cover the most important and confounding memes that come across the timeline. But the web is littered with tons of great memes that never quite hit the mainstream and instead just bounce around the weird corners of Twitter or Reddit. Enter our recurring feature, Memes, Ranked.
This week, the memes include Andre 3000's surprising new music, reactions to OpenAI firing and then rehiring its CEO and a ridiculous line from the new "Madame Web" trailer.
4. Andre 3000's new flute album
The Meme
André 3000, half of the beloved hip-hop duo Outkast, put out his first new studio album in 17 years, but it’s not what people were hoping for. “New Blue Sun” doesn’t have any rapping on it — just woodwind instruments. As such, his existing fanbase is having a bit of trouble really getting into the new groove. They’ve got the spirit though, and folks are having fun trying to expand their musical horizons.

3. 'He was in the Amazon with my mom when she was researching spiders right before she died'
The Meme
Sony Pictures sure does love to step in it. Big time. After the horrific release of "Morbius" (in my personal opinion, a D-list Spider-Man baddie turned F-tier anti-hero) spawned lots of memes making fun of the movie for being awful, Sony is at it once again. This time it's Dakota Johnson as Madame Web, who is traditionally an old woman who lives in between universes and gives advice to Peter Parker. And because Sony has to cling onto the movie rights to this IP for dear life, they have to pump out bad movies every five years with the bottom-of-the-barrel rogue's gallery characters.
The trailer for the film had one particular line of dialogue that was so stupid and so ridiculous, it just had to be clowned on. By everyone with ears connected to their brain stem. So may I introduce you to Madame Web's new origin story: "He was with my mom in the Amazon when she was researching spiders right before she died."
It's now up there with the other most famous quotes in cinema history!

2. What would have to be on the other side for you to cross this?
The Meme
We aren't sure if this bridge is real or photoshopped, but it is worth the thought experiment, and the memes, to ask "what would have to be on the other side for you to cross this?" The responses, replies, quote tweets and memes were all quite excellent, as nobody gave a serious answer. If only all Twitter trends could be this funny, pure and innocent; everybody got the assignment.

1. The firing and return of Sam Altman as OpenAI CEO
The Meme
Sam Altman, the CEO of OpenAI who was also the ex-CEO of OpenAI for a few days recently, was undoubtedly one of the internet's main characters over the course of the past weekend. Altman, a Silicon Valley mainstay, was briefly ousted from his chief executive role on Friday evening by the board of directors, and was reinstated after briefly agreeing to work with Microsoft instead. The OpenAI board that initially removed him was also replaced. Since the five-day saga came to an end, the memes covered everything from the initial shock, to Altman's eventual resurrection.
